Welcome! I am very excited to get this semester of our Electronic Mentor Interaction Program going. If you are new to blogs, please spend a few minutes orienting yourself to the layout.
How to Stay Connected
If you would like to subscribe to the site feed, you can do so via a feed reader or email using the subscription options to the right. You can also be notified of new posts through a Facebook and Twitter account. Also, you could simply check back in on the blog a couple of times a week to see if anything new has been added.
How the Course Works
The course meets on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 PM ET. The students and I will spend the first half (~25 minutes) of class wrapping up the previous week's topic, and the last half of class will be spent introducing the new topic. The students will then be asked to initiate dialogue with the mentors via comments on the blog. Mentors are encouraged to respond to these comments or to simply provide their opinion on the topic if they feel strongly about it. Follow-up discussion at the beginning of the next week's class will be based largely on mentor comments. (Mentors, we really need you to commit to participating as much as you can. Your varied experiences and opinions will really help the students begin to think about these issues.)
The students will then collect and summarize their thoughts on the topics on a weekly basis. We will do this throughout the entire Fall Semester.
Again, welcome, and I look forward to hearing from everyone!
